Bougainville College of Nursing – 10th Anniversary Celebration

Bougainville College of Nursing will celebrate its 10th Anniversary from 27–28 February and 1 March 2026. The three-day celebration marks a decade of commitment to quality nursing education, professional excellence, and service to the people of Bougainville. Over the years, the college has experienced significant developments in infrastructure, academic programs, and student capacity. Alumni, stakeholders, and the wider community are invited to join this important milestone.
Inspiring Leadership Journey Recognised at Bougainville Nursing College

The Australian High Commission Papua New Guinea has highlighted the inspiring leadership journey of Ms Celyn Tusalah, who has been named the 2025 Women in Leadership – Yumi Stap Wantaim Alumni Award recipient.
Ms Tusalah’s journey began with a dream in Adelaide and has grown into a lasting contribution to healthcare education in Bougainville. Inspired by her studies in Australia under the Australia Awards program, she led the reopening of the former Arawa School of Nursing, which had been closed for decades.
Under her leadership, the institution has been transformed into the Bougainville Nursing College, now providing quality nursing education and strengthening healthcare services for communities across Bougainville.
Her vision, resilience, and commitment to improving health outcomes demonstrate the powerful impact of education and leadership in shaping the future of healthcare in Papua New Guinea.

Resumption Date for BCON Staff and Student Registration for 2026

The resumption date for BCON has been updated. The new date for resumption will be 19th January 2026.
Previously, the resumption date was set for the 12th of January, but after coordination with other DWU campuses, the uniform date for resumption has been set as the 19th of January.
Staff are encouraged to make the most of this well-deserved rest. Upon return, everyone is expected to be activated, energized, and ready to embrace the opportunities of the new year. It's crucial to start 2026 with a renewed mindset and a fresh approach. Let’s leave behind any lingering lethargy from 2025.
Additionally, 2nd and 3rd-year students will be informed that their registration will take place on the 25th of January 2026, and week one of classes will also commence on that date.
